Building Division is part of the Community Development
Department. We issue building permits to homeowners
and contractors to regulate construction within the
City Limits. We work closely with the Planning and Engineering
Divisions to help maintain a small-town feeling while
ensuring that modern-day building safety requirements
are met.
Building permits are issued based on the 1997 Uniform
Building Code. These codes are followed not only to
protect your health and safety, but that of your property
investment as well. If improvements have been made to
your home, evidence of a building permit and final inspection
of the work is often necessary to obtain financing or
sell your property.
Pamphlets and brochures are available at our front
counter to help our customers with the building permit
process, and our staff are happy to answer any questions
you may have. Just give us a call or drop by the City
Hall Office between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. weekdays.
Our building inspector is out "in the field"
by 8:30 a.m., so we can be available to homeowners and
contractors early in the day.
